THE HIGH PRIESTESS | Tarot Card

Illustration produced for the project "Witches' Trail Tarot" -
a collaboration among artists from the Modelo Vivo Floripa group (SC/Brazil).

According to the Rider Waite tarot version, the High Priestess card symbolizes:
the feminine principle, the powers of depth, the keeper of knowledge and mysteries
linked to the Moon and consequently to emotions and duality.
Each of these meanings is represented in the illustration through the concepts:
The two Towers = duality;
Book = knowledge of mysteries;
Key
= unlocks the unknown, the occult, the transformation;

Moon = the feminine principle and the emotions;
Crescent moon = reference to Priestess Morgana - The Lady of the Lake;
Full moon = reference to card number 18 'The Moon';
Shell = allusion to the uterus that carries the passage to this world with its mysteries and sexuality. Behind the shell, the universe, the occult, referencing the symbolism of the womb and its alchemy menstrual blood influenced by the lunar phases.
In my interpretation, this card symbolizes the facets of the Goddesses,
who hold the mysteries of destruction, birth, and transformation;
as the moon reveals the aspects of these feminine archetypes.
Just like the uterus, which is the portal and the key to such wisdom.
The 'Moon' card, another illustration created for the same collab,
is purposefully associated with the portrayal of the High Priestess card.
